Business Manager portfolio

As the name suggest, the Business Manager portfolio plays an important role in MSE Club to help supporting the club’s events with sufficient funding. Its main job scope consists of engaging with external party to gain sponsorship for the club’s events and student’s welfare such as the goodie bag giveaway. Besides, the portfolio also conducts the internal fundraising event, such as mid autumn festival mooncake selling and Chinese New Year cookies selling.

Events portfolio

Events portfolioIn MSE Club, the events director’s main job scope is to liase with other protfolio, mainly logistics and welfare in the overall co ordination of all the events throughout the academic year. He is in charge of the program flow as well as the allocation of manpower for every eventsThe portfolio is also in charge of some of the events include MSE Club Sub com orientation, MSE edu week and MSE Club Sub Com night.

Logistics Portfolio

MSE Logistics portfolio is generally in-charge of handling the logistics and transportation aspects of the club. MSE club being a constituent club, hosts many events and pays great attention to the needs of the students. Therefore, MSE logistics department is specialized to support the activities of the club in the area of manpower.

In addition, Logistics oversees the store inventory of the entire MSE club, ensuring that the inventory available has been placed in order so as to meet the needs of the other different portfolios of the club. Logistics also deals with transportation of goods and items, allowing the club to be able to acquire what they want in bulk quantities.

Media & IT portfolio

Media and IT portfolio Media and IT portfolio has just separated as an individual portfolio from Media and Publication portfolio this year. Its main task is to give all kinds of IT supports to every event, including video recording, flash and video making, ppt making etc. It also takes the charge of website maintenance and lecture recording matters.

Publicity Portfolio

In MSE Club, Jobs of Publicity mainly are to let people know what is happening and what is going to happen in MSE Club. Method involved included mass email to publicize an event, announce the event during the lecture, print banners, posters and flyers for the event and also decorate the venue of the event. Publicity are supportive force in helping other portfolio to publicize their event and design the image of the Club.

Besides, Design T-shirt and Name Card are also done by Publicity Team. Nevertheless, Notice board of MSE Club is also managed by Publicity Team.

Sports Portfolio

Sports Portfolio Athletes are the personifications of dedication, passion, determination and vibrancy. They are all- rounders who possess leadership qualities, intelligence and virtues of athleticisms.  The Sports Committee represents the Faulty of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) in its sporting endeavours. We aim to develop and augment such qualities in every student scholar in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) by providing opportunities for our students to develop and nurture their personal value proposition through participation in sporting events and games.    

Major Events: 

1.   Inter-School Games/Inter-Year GamesThe Inter School Games/ Inter Year Games affords opportunities for students to represent the faculty and pit their wits and skills against contenders from other faculties in NTU, bringing glory and honor to the school and the individual respectively. 

2.   Inter-Recreational Games/Inter-Year Recreational GamesThe Inter School Recreational Games/ Inter Year Recreational Games, is an event where one will have to subject himself to an intellectually stimulating and grueling challenge where a single mistake or a moment of inspiration could propel you to certain defeat or victory.  

These events serve as avenues for our students to represent the faculty, exhibit their athleticism and build lasting friendships with those around them.  We are thankful to have the support of the Publicity Portfolio, Logistic Portfolio and the IT & Media Portfolio, in providing media coverage, refreshments and publicity respectively to the events organized. By providing the best welfare for our students competing in the respective games, our students would certainly be able to outperform, outwit and outlast their fellow competitors and bring honor and glory to the school.

Welfare and Academic Portfolio

In MSE Club, Welfare and Academic portfolio is mainly in-charge of welfare and academic matters that involve MSE community. In academic aspect, this portfolio organizes events from small scale to big scale. From old textbook selling, past year paper exam solution, lecture notes printing and selling, peer tutoring programme to nation-wide competition involving JCs and Polys, MSE Challenge.

In welfare aspects, this portfolio provides welfare services to MSE community such as food providing during MSE events, drinks/ refreshment providing during ISG/IYG, goodie bag packing and finally the biggest welfare event for all MSE community, MSE Day. Another task that welfare and academic portfolio should do is to hold the annual student survey.  By having this annual student survey, we hope to provide better events and welfare to the students in the future.

Publication Portfolio

In MSE club, the job scopes of Publication portfolio are documentation and recording for all MSE events. Another task is to design and edit two major publications, the MSE Yearbook and Atomse Magazine.

 The publication team consists of three subgroups which are photographers, designers, and writers. Photographers take charge of photo shooting and video recording of all MSE events and participate in the edition of yearbook and magazine as material collection and filtration. Designers are responsible for all layout-designing work related to two publications as well as some basic photo and video editing. The duties of writers would be reporting and words composing for the support of two publications.
