Thye Yok Yin started off in Materials Science and Engineering Club (MSE Club) as a Sports Sub-Committee member in 2007, and was awarded Best Sports Sub-Committee to recognize her outstanding commitment and contributions as a member of the portfolio. She subsequently served as the Honorary-General Secretary in the 9th Management Committee of MSE Club, where she meticulously kept proper records for all Club matters, established and maintained good relationships for the committee both internally and externally.
Presently, she is President of 10th Management Committee, Materials Science and Engineering Club. Leading a team of 17 Management Committee members made up of diverse culture and background, she strives to improve the quality and quantity of events and activities, besides aiming to increase student involvement in all areas within the Club’s scope. Also, she hopes to lead the team to serve MSE population well and keep up the excellent welfare and academic service, long regarded as MSE Club’s forte, throughout the academic year.
Her duties as President include managing all the Management Committee, representing the voice of MSE students in NTU Student Union Council, and maintaining close and beneficial working relationships with external parties. She also holds the heavy responsibility of voicing out students’ feedback to the school administration.
As a final note, she would like to send out her warm welcome to all MSE students to participate in the Club’s events and she hopes to gain the support of her fellow course-mates and committee members to drive the Club to greater heights.
Chong Yong Chin is the Vice President for the MSE Club (Material Science and Engineering Club) 10th Management Committee.
Also called Ivan, he is the Business Manager for the previous committee, 9th Management and also Business Manger Sub-Committee during 2007/08 academic year. During his term of office in MSE Club as Business Manger last year, he is namely responsible for finding sponsors for Exam Welfare Goodie Bags and most importantly to liaise with IMRE (Institute of Material Research Engineering) to hold MSE Eduweek and MSE-IMRE Challenge.
As a Vice-President for this year, he strive to assist other MSE Club portfolios through his experience and gives his commitment to MSE Club to hold the committee together to bond as one team. At the same time to work towards the MSE Club’s vision and mission through effective communication and involvement. Besides managing the top 4 portfolios with regards to club matters, he is also liaising with external organisations such as Alumni Club and Graduate Welfare Students Committee. Being a senior in MSE Club, he is able to give valuable advices and feedbacks to the MSE-IMRE Challenge Committees.
Lastly, Ivan aims to serve and provide more welfare for the students of MSE through events and workshops. At the same time, the MSE Club will continue to serve as a bridge between School of Material Science and Engineering and the MSE Undergraduates.
Bian Shangzhi is the Financial Controller of the 10th Management Committee of Materials Science and Engineering Club. His job scopes include preparing budget, recording down the audited statement of income and expenditure, authorizing the payment of all money due to and from the club and any other financial related businesses.
He was introduced to the club as a Media and Publication Subcommittee in 2007. With his strong passion and proficient technical skills, he contributed a large number of dramatic photos and was later assigned as the photographer head of the team. He was elected to be the Publication Officer in the following year of 08-09. He led the team and successfully published two major publications for the club: Graduate Yearbook and ATOMSe magazine and received tremendous responses. Shangzhi is now even more passionate to serve the club to a further level. He is going to fully commit himself to the club affairs and devotes his time and energy into various meeting and events held by the club. Financial affairs will be his major priority and he will work closely with the other top four members and make the best of his abilities to assist them in various tasks and operational matters.
Shangzhi enjoys traveling around the world and taking interesting photos on different landscapes and cultures. He is also a member of NTU karate club and has strong interest on martial art and wresling.
Lim You Liong is the Honorary General Secretary of the 10th Management Committee of Materials Science and Engineering Club, who is a third year student. His tasks include sending mass email, preparing agenda and minutes, liaising with internal parties and external parties and facilitating all official matters of the Club. As a member of Top-4 in MSE Club, he will try his best to ensure that everything runs smoothly while an event is carried out. He is also responsible to maintain the good image of MSE Club. Besides, he hopes to receive feedback from MSE students so as to improve the Club, and thus bringing the Club to greater height. To enhance strong bonding between MSE students, he suggests that MSE students should take part in the social events, such as Friday Tea Session, Inter-School Games, Inter-School Recreational Games and Weekly Mini Board Games, which are organized by MSE School and MSE Club.
Besides, he was the Sports and Recreation Secretary of 9th Management Committee in 2008/09. His greatest achievement was the Overall Champion in Inter-School Recreational Games (ISRG) in 2008/09. However, he was not satisfied as he could not achieve Top-5 in Inter-School Games (ISG) in 2008/09. In 2009/10, he hopes that the Incoming Sport and Recreation Secretary can realize his dream, which is to achieve Top-6 in ISG.
Finally, he would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to those who have helped and supported him during his appointment.

Terence is currently the Business Manager of the 10th Management Committee of the MSE Club. His past experiences as Hall 13 FOC Business Manager will certainly be useful in helping the MSE Club achieving better items for their examination goodie bags. As such, he seeks to improve on the content of the goodie bag and set a standard for the MSE Examination Goodie Bag. He hopes that in time to come, NTU Students are able to associate MSE goodie bag as being one of the best goodie bag within NTU.
Terence will also be trying to seek out companies that will be able to offer longer-sponsorship deals with the MSE Club and thus students are able to enjoy the subsequent benefits or items even though the 10th Management Committee has ended their service in office.

Ong Wee Siang is the Business Manager of the 10th Management Committee of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Club.
He was previously Hall 9 JCRC Business Manager Sub-Committee Head. During his time in the sub-committee, he was responsible for sourcing of sponsors for the exam goodie bags. This year, he decided to bring his service to the MSE family.
His job scope as MSE club Business Manager includes contacting companies to sponsor MSE events and exam goodie bag distribution for both semesters, working closely with the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) for the MSE Challange. He wishes to build closer ties between MSE club with the MSE population and IMRE. He will be representing MSE club as the Business Manager during the MSE Challenge and work closely with IMRE whom is the main sponsor for this major event for a number of years.
Nikolaus is the Event Director of 10th management committee of Materials Science and Engineering Club. He was previously head of some subcommittee members under Events portfolio and head of team managers for MSE-IMRE Challenge last academic year. These have given him some backgrounds about how events of MSE Club took place. Besides these, he took other commitments such as first-aider in NTU Red Cross, librarian and player for NTU String Orchestra, and hall IC for Indonesian FOC. Such rich experiences benefit him as well in terms of events organization and management skills.
As event director, his main jobs, while working together with his assistant event director, would be to organize some events which are chaired by this portfolio such as investiture, by preparing the programs and event flow, assigning tasks and manpower allocation to different portfolios, as well as looking for non-club people to be emcee in some events and performers for MSE Day. A good organization of event involves careful planning, coordination and creativity, which one’s ideas and competencies alone don’t suffice. Thus, he would like to hear any comments and new ideas which can make bring MSE Club to greater height through improvement of events.
Aside from being event director, he is a hard-working person with a lot of areas of interest. Keen on healthcare topics, religion and music, he also enjoys travelling, drawing, swimming and badminton. Serious and reserved he may look, but there are occasions in which he acts playfully.

Telly is the assistant event director of 10th Management Committee of MSE Club. She started her contribution in MSE club as an event subcommittee in 2008. As a subcomm, she had helped the committee with some jobs such as usher and team manager during the events such as MSE Challenge, edu week, and MSE Day.
With some past experience related to programmers, she realized that she is in is interested in orginizing events. In 2009, she decided to take up the challenge of being in the management committee and with a lot of competitors who are passionate for this portfolio, finally she was coopted as an assistant event director.
Her main priority is to improve MSE club and serve MSE student to become a better club that has some great quality events that can be proud of as a representative activities that an ideal school club suppose to be. She is also passionate to make MSE events to be more well known. Next, her vision is to lead MSE challange committee to become a better MSE challange that has just created for this year. The other duties of her, together with event director is to prepare proposals for events, works together with other committee to finalize the program flows and does the manpower distribution of the events held by the Club.
As a member of MSE club, Telly really appreciate for those who want take a contibution for some events in their own school club, hope that MSE will become a big school family.

He was the Chairperson of Designers’ Club of Visual Art Society. He has been joined MSE club as a Publicity Officer in 2008-09. He will try his best to contribute and serve MSE community.
His main duty is to take care of all MSE students’ Welfare and Academic matters.
In welfare parts, together with his assistant and subcommittee, they take care of the MSE students’ needs such as:
-MSE Day, a major event where all MSE students and staffs having fun together.
-Food / refreshment providing during every MSE events (e.g. Investiture, IYG / ISG, etc.)
-Goodies bag packing
-Students’ annual survey.
-And most recently, Public Relations with MSE student leaders.
In academic parts, they facilitate:
-Past Year Exam Paper Suggested Solutions,
-Lectures Notes Printing and Selling,
-Peer Tutoring Scheme,
-Old Text Book Selling
-EduWeek programs.
They also help up MSE Challenge, a nationwide competition for JC and Poly students .
Their task is all closely related to all MSE community. So they really hope that they could provide MSE community a better welfare and academic services in this year.

Aristo is the Assistant Welfare and Academic Officer for the 10th Management Committee of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Club.
He is currently a 2nd year MSE student. In his first year, without any knowledge of Welfare and Academic, he tried for the co-option interview. Because of better candidates, including the person who was Assistant Welfare and Academic for 9th Management Committee, he was not selected. But then he tried for the Welfare and Academic Subcomm interview and selected as one of the subcomms. In his one year of experience inside the Welfare and Academic portfolio, he learned a lot about the portfolio, and thus in his second year he tried for the co-option interview again, this time he was selected.
His aim is to give the best to the Club and also to all fellow MSE students; because he believed that the welfare of the students is the most important thing that serve as the goal of MSE club.
His main duty is to assist the Officer to take care of all MSE students’ Welfare and Academic matters. In welfare aspect, he and the Officer take care of the MSE students’ needs by holding survey, organizing events such as MSE Day, food and refreshment provided during every MSE events such as Investiture, IYG / ISG, etc., and goodies bag packaging. For academic aspect, they also provide past year paper solutions, lectures notes printing and selling, peer tutoring scheme, and MSE Eduweek that cover talks for MSE students and industrial visits.
So, from the job scope provided, we can see that he is the closest person to the needs and welfare of MSE students. He had already given his promise to serve MSE students better, if we feel that our welfare is neglected, hesitate no more to spam his mailbox with suggestions and comments.
Gibson is the Sports and Recreational Officer of the 10th Management Committee of Materials Science and Engineering Club.
As a student, he took part vigorously in inter‐school and inter‐hall games. He was the Orientation Group Leader for 08/09 MSE FOC Camp and 08/09 Hall 13 FOC Camp as well as the softball manager in Hall 13 for two years. During his appointment, he helped in organizing and coordinating softball training clinic for beginners.
He decided to take up this opportunity as a Sport and Recreational Officer as it will be a whole new experience with many learning opportunities. He strongly believe that sports help to bring people together. It helps to forge strong friendships that may last a lifetime and bridge gap between the students studying in different years.
The main challenge for a Sport and Recreational Officer is the shortage of players due to clashes between inter‐hall and inter‐school games. He will try to solve this problem so that the shortage of players will not hamper the success of the ISG and ISRG.

Weiguo is the Assistant Sports and Recreational Officer of the 10th Management Committee of the Materials Science and Engineering Club.
As a student from MSE, he has participated in the Inter School Games, Inter Year School Games held annually. In the academic year 2008/2009, his team emerged as Champion for the Inter year school games Captain’s ball competition and 2nd runner-up for the Inter school games.
Prior to his engagement of the Assistant Sports and Recreational Officer, Weiguo was orientation leader for MSE faculty camp. With the combined effort of other GLs and his group CHIVAS, they achieve the best orientation group award.
Furthermore, in the Sub-committee welcome day, Weiguo was once again GL and together with fellow GL Oscar and TEAM MAGNETO, they achieve the highest point of 9000 on that day.
With his plethora of experience, he is confident of serving the Materials Science and Engineering Club by leading his sports sub-committee in trying to create a sense of belonging for the MSE students studying in Nanyang Technological University, projecting a positive image and encouraging participation for the activities that are commencing in the academic year 2009/2010.
To Live with Passion, and Lead with Compassion are the beliefs that have always been the driving force for Kenvin; be it in organizing large scale events, or participating in any competitions. With such values, one could only envision a great advancement for the MSE Club 2009/2010.”

Andika Sutanto is the logistic officer of the 10th Management Committee of MSE Club.
He is very passionate about logistical matters. This can be proven by his previous commitments in some ECAs as a logistic subcommittee, including once in MSE Club.
As a logistic officer, his job prospects are to ensure that all the equipments that are required for all club activities are prepared and promptly delivered to the designated venue of the activity. He is also pleased to be given the responsibility to take care of MSE club’s properties which are kept in the MSE store room.
He is required to work closely with others portfolios to assist them in every event which will eventually benefit MSE Club and its community. He is currently working together with his assistant, Kelvin Oscar Wangsa, in doing all the logistical matters.
Andika’s friends describe him as someone who always tries to achieve the maximum possible outcome from everything that he does. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, chatting with friends, and doing some video-editing.
Kelvin Oscar Wangsa is currently a Year 1 MSE student. For now, he is holding the position as the assistant logistics officer of the 9th MSE Management Committee.
Together with Andika Sutanto, the logistics officer, he is to ensure and assist that all the necessary set-ups are ready for the club’s use, as well as supporting the needs of the rest of management to the best to his ability. Logistics department is usually faced with unexpected situations at the working scene. At such times, it would be up to him and his logistics officer, to resolve the challenges, with the invaluable help from their sub-com members and the Management Committee members. Forging ahead with stronger bonds, Kelvin hopes to learn and gain more during his time as the assistant logistics officer so that he also can improve his communication ability in logistic as well as MSE club itself.
Boon Earn is the Publicity Officer of the 9th Management Committee of MSE Club. Currently study as MSE year 2.He was the Chairperson of Designers’ Club of Visual Art Society. He is experienced in digital designing software such as Photoshop. Jobs of Publicity mainly are to let people know what is happening and what is going to happen in MSE Club. He will need to mass email to publicize an event, announce the event during the lecture, print banners, posters and flyers for the event and also decorate the venue of the event. Nevertheless, Notice board of MSE Club is also managed by his team: Publicity Subcom. His interests are a lot and across several field. As a Musician, he composes his own music while he can play Drums and Guitar. As a Movie Lover, he took electives that study about movies. As a Designer, he self learned Photoshop and designed several T-shirts. As a socializer, he likes to meet with people and know more new friends. As an undergraduate, he… can’t finish his tutorial on time. As a Publicity Officer, he … can skip Lecture rightfully (of course is Just Kidding…).These passions have driven him to join and commit to MSE Club because he feels that MSE Club is a right place for him to work to reach higher goal. He likes to eat and also likes to eat a lot. His comment on Singapore food is: “Singapore food taste nice!! But the portion of food is always not enough…”
Ling Jin is the Publication Officer of 10th Management Committee of Material Science and Engineering Club. She initially joined the club as a Welfare & Academic subcom in 2007 and Publication subcom-head in 2008. As a result, she is very familiar with various events hold by MSE Club, and also experienced in MSE publication designing. After serving MSE club for two year, she decides to take up the challenge of joining the Management Committee.
As a Publication officer she is in charge of the documentation and recording of all MSE events as well as two major publications, namely MSE Yearbook and MSE Annual Magazine Atomse.
In her spare time, she enjoys drawing, reading and swimming. Her biggest ambition is to bring positive influence to people around her.

Zhao Wenbo is the Media & IT officer of the 10th management committee of Materials Science and Engineering Club. He was the ASME special project officer in his first year. This year, he took the lead of IT committee with the commitment to carry on the good work of his predecessor.
He will try his best to make the club website more attractive and well-known. He will take the responsibility of MSE Club’s IT work , background support for all kinds of events and make sure that each lecture recording will be ready as soon as the lecture ended .
He was very glad that he got the opportunity to serve his school mates. He is now looking forward that his passion and creativity will bring new look to MSE Club.
